SEL/Teaching Tips of the Week
SEL Tip #32 - Stress - “a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances” (Oxford Language). Stress is a normal, physical response that happens to everyone. Our self-awareness of naming the feeling and then knowing what to do next, and that works for you is the next step. I love this “Stress Bucket Analogy” to think or talk through with students. Key - We have to find ways to release some of the stress. Ask your students - what works for you? For me - running, listening to music, taking a walk, and connecting with friends help (and for you that might be different). Help students identify what helps them deal with stress, and then have them practice using what they identified to help them ease some of the stress.
